Materials: Photoshop, camera
Idea: The image delivers a sense of gloominess and almost a hint of death. The pole perfectly aligns with the rule of thirds grid, and the wires act as leading lines in the photo, stretching off into infinity. The birds are like watchmen scrutinizing the human world beneath. The image intends to show a perpetual cycle of nature, which in this case can be associated with the dark and ugly side of nature.
New idea: I want to take my audiences with me on my journey through my love of nature, called Biophilia. The portfolio starts with low-saturation photography, closing almost to black and white, representing a gloomy and dull world. I want to convey the idea to my audiences that our perception of nature and the world around us dictates how well we can connect and taste its true beauty. B
eauty is found everywhere. Our eyes do not show a lack of sense of beauty. But a lack of observation. As we progress through my pieces, we come to a moment of transformation. I deliberately use a mixture of various tones and positive and negative spaces as well as human elements to show how someone's way of perceiving nature, like how someone begins paying attention to the minutest details or detaching themselves from the bustling cities and embracing creation in its original form, can create a profound difference. The portfolio ends with a harmonic image of the vibrancy and vividness of nature. I intend the final stages of the journey to be colorful, contrasting with the start of the journey.
